The entire commercial voiceover demo process for me was a great experience, fantastic and fun. I have a demo that I am very proud of thanks to the guidance and direction from Jim and Penny. Traveling to San Diego with 40+ pieces of copy I thought would perhaps work for a demo, I worked through them one at a time with Penny and then with Jim making piles for different characters and attitudes. I went through the "A, B, C, D and E" (5 of the 7 Core Elements) of each script and then we "weeded" through the copy again, refining and timing things even further before recording. I went into the booth with about 10-12 pieces of copy to record. With keen ears and directing from Jim and Penny, I had blast recording the various tracks. I had a chance to record on different mics. I stood, I sat and I even used a few props (a baseball cap worn backwards and a suit jacket) to help me get into character. When it came to production, selecting the background music and order of the demo, Jim and Penny took the time and the patience to make my demo sound awesome. Their attention to detail and quality is superb, they are the real deal and they are just great people to work with. Thank you, Jim and Penny of the Voice Acting Academy for all you have done for me and continue to do for so many.

Making my commercial demo with Jim and Penny was amazing. I selected tons of scripts that I thought were right for me. Penny pared them down to a select few – the ones that were REALLY right for me. Then Jim chose from those the scripts that would make the most compelling demo. And we were just starting! The hour and a half in the booth being WRUNG OUT by Jim was GREAT! He pushed and pulled and prodded until he got just the read he knew I could do! Then he started to master the demo. It was like watching a conductor orchestrate a symphony. He’d choose a piece of music, listen, discard it, move to another and another until he got exactly what he wanted and married it to my performance. MAGIC!
