There may be more than one scheduled date or location for this event. Please double check the dates below for the class you will be attending: (click on appropriate link below, if more than one.)

  • San Diego 3-Day Masters Class - March 25-28, 2010
    (Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon)

Your tuition for this event does not include airfare, hotel, ground transportation, or your meals.

HOTEL ROOM RESERVATIONS:

You are responsible for booking your hotel room. Check your Registration Package for hotel information.

RENTAL CAR:  All major car rental companies are available at most airports. Please make rental car arrangements directly with your favorite rental car company.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION:

For some events, we’re able to make arrangements with our event hotel for a discount on ground transportation from and to the airport. Some event locations are near enough to the hotel that free ground transportation is available.

  • San Diego: Please call our event hotel for a discount voucher and more information (Discount voucher is only available if staying at our event hotel). If you are not staying at our San Diego event hotel, Cloud 9 Shuttle can provide transportation from the airport to your hotel. To make reservations call 800-974-8885 or go online at www.cloud9shuttle.com. Your hotel may offer other transportation arrangements – so check with them first.
  • Other Cities: Please ask your hotel registration clerk about ground transportation or discount vouchers.

The following applies to all
VoiceActing Academy Masters Class events:

WORKSHOP DAYS & TIMES:

  • Thursday evening: 6pm-9pm Networking Get-Together.
  • Friday: 9am - 10pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 10pm
  • Sunday: 9am - 5pm

SIGN-IN FOR FIRST CLASS:

  • The sign-in desk will be open from 5:30-6pm on Thursday evening and again from 8am - 9am on Friday morning if needed.

BRING TO CLASS:

  • Your completed pre-workshop homework
  • A minimum 1GB USB Flash Drive
  • Pencil and paper for taking notes
  • Water (you may prefer your own bottled water)
  • Your copy of “The Art of Voice Acting” book
  • A CD of your VO demo and related marketing materials
  • Any specific scripts or marketing ideas you would like to work on

BREAKS, LUNCH & DINNER:

We have scheduled breaks about every 60-90 minutes for all of our workshops.

We’ll usually break for lunch around 12:30. In some cases, we’ll have deli sandwiches brought in. Plan to bring $15 for lunch each day. 

We generally conclude the first day of our Performance Workshop around 5pm. Dinner is on your own, or we will often go to a local restaurant as a group.

ATTIRE: We’ve never been at or given a workshop where the room temperature has been consistently comfortable for everyone. We recommend bringing a “layer” of clothing (sweater, light jacket, etc.) that you can put on or remove as needed.

MAY YOU RECORD THE WORKSHOP?: Yes! You may record from your seat, for your personal use, and as long as you promise not to make copies for anyone. (Sorry, no videotaping).

RECORDING YOUR ON-MIC WORK: You can take your personal on-mic sessions with you! Bring a minimum 1GB USB Flash Drive (preferably USB-2), and we’ll transfer your coaching sessions as a .wav file to your flash drive. Only your on-mic sessions will be transferred. We do not transfer any lecture material, brainstorming sessions, or other workshop activities. Please make sure your USB Flash Drive is empty.

VOICEOVER DEMO, WEB SITE & MARKETING CRITIQUE:

Here’s your chance to have James Alburger and Penny Abshire give you a no-holds-barred, shoot-from-the-hip evaluation of your demo, web site, and marketing materials. We encourage you to bring your professionally produced demo CD and any related marketing materials (including business card, letterhead, cover letter, etc.) packaged exactly as you would send it out.

During this Masters Class we’ll evaluate, discuss, brainstorm, and re-develop your marketing materials to help you build a more powerful brand for your voiceover work.
