The most important thing to know about microphones is that different microphones will sound different with different people. In other words, you might sound best on a relatively inexpensive mic while that same mic might make someone else sound “thin” or harsh in quality.
Ideally, you want to test a microhone with your voice before you purchase, but that’s not always possible. If in doubt, we recommend starting with an inexpensive condenser microphone. You’ll still sound very good, and as you gain experience (and income) you’ll learn how you sound on other mics. Eventually you’ll find a mic that fits your voice best.
