You’ve got to be able to hear what you are doing. A comfortable pair of headphones will work nicely, but you might want to consider investing in a good pair of studio monitor speakers - especially if you are recording your voice tracks for the highest quality. Good monitor speakers will reveal every nuance of your performance and any extraneous sounds that need to be fixed before sending your voice track to your client.

Data Storage:
Recording
audio projects on an external hard drive will improve performance and help to
minimize computer lock-ups or crashes. Ideally, you want to record on a 7200rpm
hard drive, although a 5400rpm drive (common on most laptops) will do an
adequate job of recording voiceover.
