The VoiceActing Academy welcomes a guest!

Penny, Nancy, Jim, and studio mascots, Ducky & Bunny
On October 21st, we were excited to welcome Nancy Crandall to our studios for a short visit. She’s here in San Diego for a wedding but made the time to stop by and say hello. It was wonderful getting to know her. She’s delightful!
Nancy is a voice actor in Denver, Colorado. We found out that she and Penny only lived a couple of blocks from each other (in the suburb of Lakewood) during Penny’s 12 years there. Too bad they didn’t know each other then ~ but they’re making up for lost time now!
Remember if any of you are ever in our area – please stop by! We love visitors!

Hey Penny and Jim,
I may just take you up on that invitation next month. My family and I are going to visit San Diego and L.A. for a vacation during the week leading up to Thanksgiving. It’s possible you won’t be there due to it being holiday time and all but if you will be working during the first part of that Thanksgiving week, I would love to pop in and say hello.
In fact, if you could recommend any good restaurants or tourist attractions, I would be really grateful for any suggestions. My kids are teenagers and game for anything. I hear the zoo is the best in the country so I guess that is a must, especially as my daughter wants to be a vet.
Thanks for all you do for the voiceover community. You do a FANTASTIC job!
Cuddles,
Pearl
Hi Pearl!
It would be lovely to see you! We should be here during the time you are visiting. We have a two-day Pefrormance Weekend on the weekend of 21st, but I think that’s the only workshop we have going on – so you could come see us anytime during the week. Just let me know when is best for you.
Yes, the Zoo is definitely a “must see!” And there are many, many other attractions you’ll want to see as well. My top three picks would be; the Zoo, Sea World, and brunch or dinner at the Hotel Del Coronado (a very historic and purported haunted hotel). It’s absolutely beautiful there. They may even have their Christmas decorations up by then and they are unbelievably spectacular! If you like historical things – we have the USS Midway, a retired battleship. It’s amazing! Balboa Park has so many museums, I’ve lost track of the number. All these places can be found on the Internet. I don’t mean to leave out The Wild Animal Park – but if you must choose between that or the Zoo, I will always recommend the Zoo. Both are great – but the Zoo is better.
So far as restaurants, there are so many to choose from! Anthonys (which is right at the bayfront) is excellent and reasonable for seafood. I’m also fond of The Harbor House and the Fish House. They are all in the same general area. Oh! And you can’t miss Seaport Village. Great shopping! Speaking of shopping, Horton Plaza is also great fun with lots and lots of stores.
Anyway, that should give you some ideas. Let me know when you like to drop by the studio! 858-484-0220
Hugs,
Penny
