The Key Voice – Chad Quidor

Jim adjusts the mic for Chad
I recently sat down with Chad Quidor while we were producing his first commercial demo to ask him a little about himself. Chad has a very wry sense of humor and was an absolute blast to work with! He has great range, acting ability and drive. He’ll do well in this business! He answered some of our interview questions with tongue firmly in cheek. . . Listen to his demo HERE.
Q. What caught your interest in Voice Acting? What other career(s) have you had?
A. I have done live stage announcing and public speaking over the years and really enjoyed hearing the sound of my own voice and thought “Why shouldn’t more of the world enjoy hearing it too?” So, voiceacting seemed the logical choice for making that happen.
Q. In what part of this big world do you live?
A. The wine country of Temecula, California
Q. With whom have you studied?
A. Jim and Penny at The VoiceActing Academy, MJ Lallo, and others who shall remain nameless, although they do have names.
Q. What convinced you to produce your demo with Jim & Penny at VoiceActing, LLC?
A. They are simply the best at bringing out the best in you and since your demo is supposed to represent your best, why wouldn’t I go t the best? Did I mention they are the best?
Q. What has been your highlight VO experience?
A. I really enjoyed attending VOICE 2008 and having the opportunity to meet so many talented people in this industry.
Q. In contrast, what has been a tough experience in VO that taught you a lot?
A. I’ve learned not to take rejection personally. I’ve learned that I sell ‘hamburgers’ and sometimes people want a pizza or a taco. It doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with my hamburgers!
Q. Describe one or two things that helped you the most as you prepared for your demo.
A. I didn’t try to be “all things to all people.” I just identified my niche and went with what I do the best right now.
Q. Now that you have your demo in hand, do you think breaking into VO will be an easy process?
A. ABSOLUTELY! All good things come easily, don’t they? Actually, what I do know is that persistence pays off so I’ll keep working at this as long as my body will let me.
Q. Will you be attending VOICE 2010 and why?
A. Yes, I will be attending VOICE 2010 – Why? Because I’m not stupid! I want to succeed at this and be surrounded by the best! I hear they’ll be at VOICE, you know!
Anything else you’d like to add?
Remember: The person on top of the mountain didn’t fall there.

Chad said, “I’ve learned not to take rejection personally. I’ve learned that I sell ‘hamburgers’ and sometimes people want a pizza or a taco. It doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with my hamburgers!”
Great advice, especially for beginners.
Awesome variety of voice on Chad’s demo! Take a listen!
HI-LARIOUS!

W!o!W! Most people HATE the sound of their own voice. Chad must be a hoot!
