How do I find out what I get as a Conductor’s Club member?  back to top

Each level of membership has different benefits. The higher levels of membership include all the benefits of the levels below it. For example, a Producer membership includes all the benefits of Director and Actor members, plus additional benefits available only to Producer members. A complete breakdown of member benefits is on the “Join the Club” page of this site. Just scroll down to review the comparison chart and click on any of the member levels (Actor, Director, or Producer) for more information about each level. After joining Conductor’s Club, the main page of your membership level includes all the details of how to use and access and use your member benefits.

How much does it cost to join Conductor’s Club?  back to top

The Conductor’s Club is a fee-based membership support service for voice actors. There are three distinctly different Conductor’s Club membership levels: Actor (lowest level), Director (mid-level), and Producer (highest level). The higher membership levels include all of the benefits of the level, or levels, below. The membership level does not necessarily reflect the experience, training, or expertise of the members at that level. In other words, a beginner might join at the Producer member lever to gain access to more advanced information. A chart comparing the benefits and price differences is located on the “Join the Club” page of this site.

If I join, will my dues go up later?  back to top

When you join the Conductor’s Club, your dues will never go up as long as your membership stays at the level at which you originally joined. If you decide to upgrade or downgrade your membership later, your original membership will be canceled and you will be rejoining at the new level and at the current dues for that level. Sorry, but any membership discounts we might offer only will only apply for the level at which you originally joined and cannot be extended to upgrades or downgrades.

Can I pay my dues with a credit card instead of PayPal? back to top

We use PayPal as our primary payment portal because of its reliability, security, ease of use, and the fact that PayPal accepts all credit cards. Also, you do not need to have a PayPal account to use the service. However, we do know that some people don’t like PayPal and might prefer to pay their dues via a credit card. So... the answer to the question is “yes!” We can register your membership and set up a recurring billing with either a MasterCard or Visa credit card (our merchant service does not accept Discover or Amex), but you must call us to register over the phone using a credit card. We do not accept credit card registration (outside of PayPal) over the Internet.

Will the personalized consultation calls include other VO coaches, or just James and Penny? back to top

Conductor’s Club personalized coaching calls are with James Alburger and/or Penny Abshire. Although we do not generally include other coaches on these calls, there may be times when we will refer you to another coach for additional consultation or coaching. Our Professional Affiliate coaches and consultants have agreed to offer a discount on their services to Conductor’s Club members for any services they offer that might require a fee.

What can I ask during a personalized consultation call? back to top

Conductor’s Club personalized consultation calls are intended to help you get the answers you need as quickly as possible. You can ask any question related to your voiceover performance or business. In most cases, we’ll be able to help, but if we don’t have the answer, we’ll most likely refer you to one of our Professional Affiliates who will.

Is there a fee for a personalized consultation? back to top

Yes, and no. First, you need to know that the personalized consultation call is a private call with James and/or Penny. We limit the amount of time for a personalized consultation to a maximum of 15 minutes for Actor and Director members and to 30 minutes for Producer members. There is a $25 charge for Actor members which can be on a credit card or as a PayPal transaction. Personal consultation calls for Producer and Director members are included in your dues. Director members receive up to one (1) 15 minute consultation per month and Producer members receive up to two (2) consultation calls per month up to 30 minutes each.

When can personalized consultation calls be scheduled? back to top

In many cases, we’ll be able to help you at the time you call, however, there will be times when we will need to schedule a callback of followup call. Personalized consultation calls are only accepted during our office hours of 10am - 5pm Pacific Time Monday through Wednesday and on Friday. Thursday’s are kept open for our Studio Hotline calls. Our office is closed on Saturday and Sunday. If we are unavailable at the time you call, we’ll do our best to schedule a followup or callback at the earliest possible and mutually convenient time.

Will you work with me to help define my voiceover niche? back to top

Absolutely! Part of the purpose of Conductor’s Club is to help our members to be better voice actors and to get more work. In today’s voiceover world, it is critically important to know what your niche is and how to best market yourself for work in that niche. Our Thursday Studio Hotline; Producer Mastermind; free and paid conference calls; and personal consultation calls are all intended to help you discover your niche and be the best voice talent you can be.

Will other VO coaches be on the Studio Hotline and Mastermind conference calls? back to top

The Conductor’s Club Studio Hotline is a service available only to Director and Producer members. Mastermind conference calls are available only to Producer members. Because these are unstructured and unformatted conference calls, we never know who might be on the call. One week there might be only a handful of members calling in, and the next week there might be a few coaches and other professionals joining the call.

How does the Home Studio consultation work: is this just one call or several? back to top

A high-quality home studio is critical for today’s voiceover talent. In an effort to help our members create the best possible recordings, we’ve include a Home Studio consultation up to one (1) hour as part of your Conductor’s Club membership, either for free (at the Producer member level) or at a deep discount for Director and Actor members (see the chart HERE for more information). Most Home Studio consultations can be handled over the phone and email and will require less than one hour of cumulative time. For complex issues, we can log in to your computer to troubleshoot computer issues that might be affecting your recordings. If your Home Studio consultation requires more than 1 hour of time, Conductor’s Club members will get a 33% discount off our normal Home Studio consulting fees (posted HERE).

Are Studio Hotline and Mastermind conference calls recorded? back to top

The Conductor’s Club Studio Hotline and Mastermind conference calls are specifically intended to help our members establish personal networking connections (via the phone), get their questions answered, and share tips, techniques and ideas. All for the purpose of improving business skills and performing techniques. It is our plan to record Studio Hotline and Mastermind conference calls. However, due to the nature of both of these calls, the recording may not be of the complete conversation - simply because there will often be long gaps of silence. Also these calls are recorded using our conferencing system, so the quality of the recording is far less than the quality of our other conference calls. Information for accessing the Studio Hotline and Producer Mastermind live conference calls and playback recordings is included in the Director and Producer member areas.

Will conference calls be available for download if missed? back to top

We always record our publicly announced conference calls and make them available as a downloadable MP3 file for everyone signed up for the call. Our call recording downloads are available for only a week. As a Conductor’s Club member at either Director or Producer levels, you will have access to our entire catalog of free conference calls from your member area. Conductor’s Club members receive a discount for our paid conference calls and webinars. Downloads for paid calls (audio only) are added to the member’s VoiceActing Academy account and are available for download for up to 30 days.

How do I change or cancel my Conductor’s Club membership? back to top

Although we’d hate to see you go, we understand that you might need to cancel your membership for one reason or another. If you are upgrading or downgrading your membership, you’ll need to cancel your current membership first, then re-subscribe at the new membership level. To cancel your membership, simply open your PayPal account and look for your subscription payments. From there, all you need to do is cancel your Conductor’s Club subscription. Canceling your subscription is not the same as a refund. Any recent payments will have been processed, so you might want to cancel around the date of your monthly renewal. For more information about changing your membership or canceling, please click HERE. As usual, if you have any problems or questions, please call us at 858.484.0220.
