Studio Savvy Registration Info

VoiceActing Academy Studio Savvy Session

This page contains important information about this workshop.
Please read carefully and download the registration package.

Now that you’re registered, you’ll need more information about the workshop location, accommodations, travel arrangements, etc. All that and more is included in your registration package that you can download from here or from your VoiceActing Academy Account. This workshop was added to your account, or your account was set up when you registered. A confirmation e-mail was sent to you with your login username (your e-mail address) and your temporary password. We suggest that you login as soon as possible to update any missing information to your profile and to change your password.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

This event will run a minimum of three hours… and we may go later than the scheduled end time. Our goal is to make sure your questions are answered and that you have a functional, working knowledge of how to use your equipment and software.

  • 6pm- Doors open. Find a seat and set up your equipment (if you’ve brought it with you).
  • Part 1 – Home Studio Equipment Fundamentals, Operations, setup and Q&A
  • Part 2 – Recording, Production, Editing, and more.
  • 9:00pm – Scheduled end time. If you need to leave early, please let us know. We often run a bit over three hours. If you need to leave early, please let us know.

EVENT LOCATION:

For San Diego events, please CLICK HERE for location information, driving directions and local hotel accommodations. This is a one-day event, but we may go late, so  if you are coming in from out of town, you may want to book a room nearby.

For events in cities other than San Diego, location information will be included in the links when you log in to your account. Look for the item “Performance Event – City” and click on the Locations link.

THIS IS A HIGHLY INTERACTIVE, HANDS-ON WORKSHOP:

The purpose of this event is for you to become comfortable with your home studio equipment and software. The best way to achieve this will be for you to bring your home studio computer and other equipment with you. Please call us if you do not yet have a home studio or are unable to bring your home studio computer to this event.

If you use a Laptop computer (Mac or PC), please bring…

  • Microphone with cable (dynamic mic, condenser mic, or USB mic)
  • USB interface with cable
  • Headphones
  • Laptop computer and mouse (if you use one)
  • Laptop power cord
  • Recording/editing software already installed on your computer*
  • A pad of paper and pen or pencils for taking notes

*Note: if you do not have recording software, we can install Audacity during the seminar

Depending on the size of the group, and what we have available, we may be able to provide one or two computers for those who use a desktop at home.

INTERNET ACCESS:

Because some parts of this event require Internet access, we will have it available for you. We’ll give you the logon password when you get here.

We use Dropbox for delivering files that we create during the workshop. Please follow the instructions in your registration package and have Dropbox installed on your computer. We may or may not be using Dropbox for this event, but if we do, we’ll send you an invitation to join our Dropbox shared folder. You must accept our invitation to share the folder in order to get access any files created and shared during the event.

IF YOU HAVE A LAPTOP, BRING IT TO THE EVENT:

We will have tables, power and Internet access for you if you would like to use your laptop for taking notes during the workshop.
